A rich public domain archive of classical sheet music and MIDI music files

This musical utopia is not a dystopia

An Ambitious Goal

The Mutopia Project is modeled in spirit on Project Gutenberg, and hopes to do for sheet music what it has done for books - make them freely available as widely as possible. There are about 500 compositions currently, but it's growing. Click the 'List All' option on the right to see a full list sorted alphabetically by composer.

Score Choices

There is also a browse option so you can see exactly how many pieces are online for each composer, intended instrument, or musical style, and then go from there. The scores are all available as Postscript or PDF files (Letter and A4 sizes) and the specialty Lilypond format, and have associated MIDI files for download as well.
